What is the AutoShip program?

My pet’s food already has the “same” vitamins, is it okay to give extra vitamins?

The manufacturing process of pet food is essential to keeping the quality of food high. Pet foods that are cooked (almost all) tend to kill off vital and naturally occurring nutrients from many of the ingredients. For instance, vegetables, when you cook them, you’re cooking away crucial minerals, enzymes, and vitamins. This is why many food companies may add synthetic vitamins. Unfortunately, synthetic vitamins are not absorbed the same as are natural vitamins (like those contained in the NuVet Plus®). NuVet Labs uses a “cold processing” method in our manufacturing practices and none of our ingredients are exposed to heat, which removes crucial nutrients in the natural ingredients. Take, for example, the chicken liver. We use real chicken liver that is paddle-dried using a patented process. This ensures the fragile Vitamins A, E, B1, Digestive Enzymes and Omega Fatty Acids are not destroyed. The “cold-processing” of NuVet Plus® ingredients also ensures it is easy on the metabolism of your pet (easy to absorb and process). This is why the multivitamin supplement is still necessary and beneficial for your pet, even if they are getting a good dog food. Even good dog food uses grains and by-products, so make sure you read your pets dog food label before purchasing.

How long does it take to receive my order?

Depending upon your location and what day of the week you ordered, (ie. Friday as opposed to a Monday), your package should arrive by ground transportation between 3 to 7 business days. Expedited shipping is available upon request with a customer service representative.

Do NuVet Plus® and NuJoint Plus® have to be given with food?

NuVet Plus® and NuJoint Plus® can be given at any time of day, with or without food. They can even be given as a treat, once daily. NuVet Plus® and NuJoint Plus® contain all-natural, human-grade (non-synthetic) ingredients that will not have any negative reactions with any medications your pet may be taking.

How much should I give my pet?

The recommended maintenance dosage of NuVet Plus® for a pet that weighs less than 5 lbs. is a half wafer/serving daily. Pets from 5-100 lbs. require one wafer/serving per day, and dogs over 100 lbs. should be given two wafers/servings daily. For pets with health conditions, we typically recommend to temporarily increase the standard maintenance dosage listed on the bottle, since doing so should provide an extra boost to the immune system and speed the healing process. Do you accept payment via PayPal?

Yes. If you are interested in using this form of payment, please first contact our customer service department. To submit your payment via PayPal, please direct the payment to paypal@nuvet.com. However, AutoShip orders must be paid for using either a credit or debit card.

What is your return policy?

We have a 60-day return policy. You must call our office to obtain a Return Authorization number before returning any product to us. Once we have received the returned product to our facility, we will issue a refund to the original method of payment used. If after trying the product you are not satisfied, you may return it for a refund of the product price. To receive a refund, you must first contact our office for a Return Authorization number. The RA number and the account holder's first and last name must be clearly marked on the outside of the package. The customer is responsible for return shipping charges. Customers will receive a refund for the product cost (less shipping & handling) and a 20% destruction fee will apply. Due to safety regulations, this destruction fee applies whether or not the bottles have been opened. Please contact a Customer Service representative for more information.

Are there any negative side effects?

NuVet® products are natural supplements made from the finest human-grade ingredients. They are guaranteed for purity, safety, and effectiveness. As with people, it is possible for pets to be sensitive to an ingredient in any food based product. Ailments

How long will it take to show results?

The time frame necessary to see improvement can vary, as there are many factors that can affect the healing process (e.g., genetics, environment, diet, age, severity of the condition). Depending on your pet, you may begin to see results within a few weeks, or it may take up to a few months. If your pet is suffering from an illness, you can often increase the dosage temporarily (depending on your pet's weight as well as the type and severity of the ailment he or she is experiencing), since doing so should help to jump-start the healing process. If I stop giving the pet NuVet® will the problems come back?

Every pet is different. For some pets, the problem may be permanently eradicated after using NuVet® for a short time. Other customers have noticed that when they discontinue use of NuVet®, their dogs’ health problems (such as allergies or tumors) return. When you stop giving NuVet® you eliminate your pet’s infusion of vital nutrients crucial to their good health and well being. We recommend continued use of NuVet® to not only eliminate existing health problems, but to strengthen the overall immune system and help to prevent any possible future health problems.

How do I check the status or make changes to an existing AutoShip order?

For any inquiries or changes to an existing AutoShip order, please call our toll-free number (1-800-474-7044). A customer service representative will be happy to provide you with the requested information or make any desired updates to your order. This includes changing the next ship date, quantity of product, frequency, shipping address or payment method, as well as cancellation of an AutoShip order. We request that customers contact us prior to the ship date of the order to which they wish to make changes. Why can I not order if I don’t have an order code?

The order code is typically a five digit number that allows you to purchase through us as we are a wholesale company. Why do you not sell product in retail stores?

NuVet Labs® distributes our line of products through educated and dedicated pet industry professionals to maintain the integrity of our products. Since our products contain a potent and powerful source of nutrients for your pet, we want to make sure that the information and recommendations of our products are from informed and reputable industry professionals who are trained on the purity, safety and effectiveness of the nutritional supplement.

Why does the website/breeder say I can save up to an additional 45% if I use the order code number?

By using your order code number, you gain access to our wholesale prices. If you were to find the product in a grooming shop or veterinary office, they can be marked up an additional 30-45% from our prices.

How much should I give my pet?

How many wafers do you feed a dog that is over 100 lbs?

For dogs over 100 lbs., we recommend a minimum of two wafers per day.

Why can a 6 lb dog and 90 lb dog take the same dosage?

NuVet Plus® is not weight specific. Similar to human supplements, it supplies a recommend amount of nutrients if taken daily. The concept of one wafer per day is stating the recommended maintenance dosage for an average dog. A larger pet can take more than one per day. Any pet undergoing stress, extreme training, or experiencing health issues should increase the recommended dosage. NuVet Plus® is a bio-digestible supplement, which means that it is easily processed by your pet's digestive system. There is no threat of over supplementation.

Is it okay to increase the maintenance dosage for more than a few weeks?

Yes. For pets with health conditions, we typically recommend to temporarily increase the standard maintenance dosage listed on the bottle until significant improvement is apparent, since doing so should provide an extra boost to the immune system and speed the healing process. The recommended initial loading dosage is dependent upon your pet's weight, as well as on the type and severity of the particular ailment he or she is experiencing. If the pet eats too many/whole bottle will they be ok? Is there a danger of overdose?

The ingredients in our supplements are derived from natural sources (containing no synthetic ingredients) and are mostly water-soluble. Due to this, there is no threat of over supplementing as a pet will absorb what it needs and the rest will then be eliminated This prevents overdose, since your dog or cat will digest the proper amount of each ingredient that is needed for their body weight (the equivalent of 1-2 wafers) and the rest will simply pass through their system. If they did consume a large quantity, they may temporarily experience an upset stomach with some diarrhea or vomit (especially if they have ingested the majority of a bottle). It is advisable to provide them with some extra water, and if possible, to allow them outside while they go through the elimination process should this occur. Please note that they will not experience long term side effects from eating the entire bottle of wafers. To ensure your pet is most comfortable during the elimination process, you may feed a soothing bland diet such as boiled meat and rice if your pet has an upset stomach. You may reintroduce the supplements after one week of the incident.

Can my dog take too much?

NuVet Plus® is specially formulated to provide the most essential of ingredients for optimum nutritional health. Everything in NuVet Plus® is good for your pet and absolutely safe as it is derived from natural sources. Although your dog can't take an overdose of NuVet®, just like any type of food or supplement, they should only take what they need and the recommended amount. Can’t dogs be harmed from Blue-Green Algae? What makes yours different?

With more than 400,000 dogs and cats having used NuVet Plus® since 1997, the Blue-Green Algae in NuVet Plus® has never caused a problem. We use only Blue-Green Algae from one of the safest sources in the world because it grows in running water, rather than still water. Ours is food-grade and approved for human consumption. It is likely that the incidents the public has heard of are dealing with Algae coming from stagnant water and not of high quality.

Is the Calcium in NuVet Plus® harmful (especially to younger dogs)?

There are 100 mg. of Calcium and 83 mg. of Phosphorus in each serving of NuVet Plus®. Both of these minerals are essential to the body, working together to maintain the growth and structure of the skeletal system. This crucial balance occurs naturally in the source of farm-raised freshwater oyster shells found in NuVet Plus®. The Calcium and Phosphorus in NuVet Plus® are derived from natural food sources. Because of this, chances are much better that you will be supplying both of these elements in a mixed balance of compounds that are digestible and “bio-available”, helping your pet’s system to metabolize them efficiently. Feeding adequate Phosphorous without adequate Calcium can actually deplete the skeletal bones of Calcium, and also overtax the kidneys. With the use of NuVet Plus® as your pet’s daily supplement, you are assured that they are receiving adequate supplies of both elements, as well as other vital natural compounds. Any minerals that your pet does not utilize will be flushed out of its system. Why are there no probiotics in your formula?

We do not incorporate probiotics into our formula as we instead utilize prebiotics. The Alfalfa helps to promote the proper environment for the growth of beneficial bacteria. Therefore, we do not need to import other forms of bacteria – the prebiotics provide a healthy environment for a dog to create its own probiotics. Additionally, the prebiotics contained in NuVet Plus® are derived from a vegetable source; these provide a proper pH balance, as well as the nutrients necessary for proper colon function and health.

Where are your products manufactured?

NuVet Plus® is manufactured in the Western United States, in a FDA registered human pharmaceutical laboratory. This guarantees that every ingredient is microscopically tested and strictly monitored. All ingredients are from the U.S. except for 1) Cat's Claw (a Peruvian herb), 2) Pine Bark (from French maritime pine trees), and 3) Shark Cartilage (from Atlantic non-endangered sharks).

Why is there a 20% destruction fee for returned AutoShip orders?

If a customer decides to cancel an AutoShip and return an order that has already been shipped, we can refund 80% of the product price upon receipt of the returned shipment within our 60-day return policy. As noted on each AutoShip invoice, there is a 20% destruction fee for returned orders, being as the product is considered pharmaceutical-grade. Therefore, once a shipment has left our facility, it becomes a liability if it were to be resold. Because of this, and for the safety of all of our customers, it is our general policy not to resell any returns, even if they are unopened. To avoid incurring a destruction fee, please contact our office prior to your next scheduled AutoShip order date to for any changes or cancellation requests. What if the product doesn’t work?

We offer a 60-day money-back satisfaction guarantee for first time orders. If after trying the product you are not satisfied you may contact our customer service department for information to return the product within 60 days from purchase. We will then refund 100% of the product price (shipping & handling is non-refundable) upon receipt of your return.

Does my order require refrigeration?

NuVet® products are completely shelf stable and require no refrigeration.

Why is this bottle all powdery? Did anything change?

NuVet Plus® is a natural supplement. We harvest all our own ingredients, so from batch to batch the flavor, texture, and smell can change. Additionally, the wafers do not have an outer coating. This makes it easier on the dogs teeth, since the wafers are compacted with less effort. Unfortunately, our packages are not always handled with care during transit the wafers sometimes get tossed around a bit, causing them to become more of a powder or even sometimes broken. However, you can be assured that there is nothing wrong with the wafers or the integrity of the product itself.

Do most dogs like the taste?

Yes. NuVet Plus® has a chicken liver taste, which most dogs are very fond of. Our most popular formula is a wafer, or chewable tablet, that can be given as a treat once a day. For more finicky dogs (usually smaller breeds) that are not as fond of the wafers, we also offer a powder formula that can be sprinkled over the food. The powder contains double the chicken liver flavor than do the wafers, and finicky dogs tend to prefer it.

Is this something I will have to give the dog for the rest of their life?

NuVet Plus® is a nutritional supplement, much like a daily vitamin that you would take to boost your own immune system and promote your overall health. There is no designated length of time that your pet must be on NuVet Plus®, but we recommend keeping your pet on the supplement in order to maintain and enhance their optimum level of health.

Why might NuVet Plus® cause dog to have loose stool? Can the dosage be split into a half wafer in the morning and half at night to avoid this?

If your pet is experiencing loose stool, this could be a reaction to the product ridding the body of toxins. When the body is being cleansed, this flushing process can cause stools to become more fluid. This is most commonly found with smaller breed dogs, or those with sensitive systems. If you are concerned about the loose stool, you can even start out using just a half wafer once a day, for a few days or up to a week. You can also split the dosage into a half wafer in the morning and other half in the evening.

What is the shelf life for NuVet Plus®?

Our products come with a 2-year shelf life from the expiration date on the bottles (which is the ship by date). Because of all the antioxidants present in the product they will not spoil or go rancid as long as the containers are kept closed and are stored in a cool dry area. However, even past the 2-year timeframe, the products do not become stale or unusable; they may however, start to lose some of their potency.

Can you recommend a good dog food?

Since we are not the manufacturer of any dog foods, we generally do not feel comfortable recommending a particular brand, since there may be things about the product we do not know, and we cannot guarantee its’ safety or quality. However, here are some general guidelines for you to follow. A good dog food should have: i. Whole meat as the first few ingredients (chicken, turkey, lamb, fish, venison, etc.) ii. No corn or wheat iii. All-natural ingredients iv. No preservatives (BHA, BHT, Ethoxyquin, etc.) v. No by-Products

Are the wafers okay for cats?

NuVet Plus® for Canines is specially formulated for dogs and NuVet Plus® Feline Formula was specifically created for cats. It is always best to give your pet the supplement that was made just for them.

Will NuVet® products interfere with vaccines or prescription medications?

No, NuVet® products are safe and will not interfere with vaccines or prescription medications. We have never had an incident of this nature since our products entered the market in 1997, as their ingredients are natural and human-grade. However, if you are concerned about a medication your pet is taking, please consult with your Veterinarian to confirm there will be no interaction. Your Veterinarian may also contact us for any questions or concerns.

Are NuVet® products safe for breeding/pregnant females?

Yes, NuVet® products are completely safe to use with pregnant females, since the product is natural and made of human grade ingredients. We especially recommend using NuVet Plus® in these cases, since it will safely provide all the essential vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants that are particularly necessary for pregnant dogs (while passing the nutrients to the puppies as well). NuVet Plus® also helps to prevent many problems associated with pregnancy, such as a blown coat or weight loss.

Can NuVet® products be given to very young puppies?

Puppies can begin taking NuVet® products once they are weaned from their mother and are ingesting solid food. Our products are natural and completely safe for dogs of all ages.
